There are 2 dog food brands that set the standard for me and my pups. One of which i will focus on in this post and the other one in a separate post. I apologize in advance for all the car references – the F1 season has just begun and, well, deal with it. 🏎️

Is This Gourmet Kibble the Ferrari of Dog Food?

🐶 Meet Farmina: The Ferrari of Kibble, Now in Lamb & Blueberry Flavor

Farmina doesn’t mess around. This Italian-made, vet-backed, premium dog food rolls up like a Ferrari in a parking lot full of minivans. It’s sleek, high-performance, and definitely on the pricier side—but if you’ve got a pup with a refined palate (or a sensitive tummy), this might be worth the splurge.

Their Lamb & Blueberry line has two versions:

Ancestral Grain Lamb & Blueberry – with spelt and oats

Grain-Free Lamb & Blueberry – with pumpkin and blueberry

Both promise high-quality ingredients, digestibility, and a little antioxidant sparkle from blueberries. Time to pop the hood and see what’s under the kibble.

🍖 Bork Bowl Ingredient Deep Dive

Let’s take a closer look at what powers this Italian engine.

🐾 Lamb – ✅ Lean, Digestible Protein

A solid choice for dogs with sensitivities to chicken or beef. Lamb is rich in amino acids and iron, and both formulas use fresh and dehydrated lamb to fuel your pup with clean, high-performance protein.

Grain-Inclusive Version: What’s in the Tank

Spelt & Oats – ✅ Wholesome, Slow-Burning Fuel

These ancient grains bring fiber, B vitamins, and steady energy. Great for dogs who digest grains well—and a step above your typical corn or wheat fillers.

Dried Beet Pulp – 🌟 Keeps Things Running Smoothly

A good source of both soluble and insoluble fiber that supports digestion and stool quality.

Chicken Fat – ✅ Adds Power & Shine

Great source of energy and omega-6s for a shiny coat and healthy skin.

Grain-Free Version: Different Build, Same Power

Pumpkin & Pea Starch – ⚖️ Alternative Carbs

Pumpkin is a beneficial addition to a dog’s diet, offering digestive support, a source of fiber, and various vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, C, and potassium.

Fish Oil & Chicken Fat – ✅ Performance Add-ons

Packed with omegas for joint support, brain health, and that sleek, show-dog shine.

👍 What We Like About These Formulas

Single-source protein (Lamb) – Ideal for dogs with food sensitivities

Rich in omegas – Chicken fat + fish oil = coat goals

No corn, wheat, or soy – Just the good stuff

Added blueberries – Antioxidants and a fun twist (your dog won’t taste the superfood trend, but it’s cute)

You get options – Grain or grain-free, depending on your pup’s needs

In another post, I’m going to deep-dive into the importance of looking at Guaranteed Analysis and why it is important. I know we, as pet parents, are obsessed with ingredients, and what is where in the ingredient list and why is that in my dog’s food!?
Trust me, I’ve gone full ingredient detective mode more than once. What we really need to be looking at, however, is the Guaranteed Analysis – this gives you a way to compare products side-by-side, no matter how fancy or healthy the ingredients sound. It tells you how much protein, fat, fiber, and moisture are in the food. I’ll get into the nitty gritty of it all another day.

👀 Things to Consider Before You Rev the Engine

⚠️ Luxury price tag – This is premium kibble. Budget accordingly.

⚠️ Grain-free uses starchy carbs – Still quality, but might not be ideal for all dogs.

Here are photos of the grain-free kibble and grain-inclusive respectively.

🐾 Would I Feed This to My Dog?

I do feed Farmina kibble to my dog, and, quite frankly, unless something absolutely drastic happens (or they get purchased by Nestle..), I don’t see myself changing it any time soon. They have been on the lamb diet and, previously, the chicken grain-free for about 2 years now with zero problems. The pups love it. No toppers, no coaxing, no Oscar-worthy performances from me—just clean plates (yes, we use dog plates in this house).

If your dog needs a limited-ingredient diet or just does better on lamb, Farmina’s Lamb & Blueberry line is an excellent option. It’s thoughtfully crafted, packed with quality ingredients, and available in both grain-inclusive and grain-free formats. Plus, let’s be honest—it just feels good unboxing a bag of Farmina when it’s delivered.

If you want your pup eating like a little four-legged Ferrari, this is how you do it.

🐶 Final Verdict: BorkScore

🐾🐾🐾🐾½ 4.5/5 Borks!

High-quality protein, strong ingredient integrity, and Italian-level flair. This kibble is the real deal—especially for dogs with food sensitivities or picky eaters who’ve turned their nose up at cheaper chow.

Only thing keeping it from a perfect 5? The price and a few carb sources might not suit every dog (or wallet). But if your budget allows, Farmina is ready to zoom into your feeding routine.
